POV

For the civic engagement of young students

POV lends itself as a parallel service to Milano Partecipa*, and is based on using schools as a meeting point for students' ideas, creating a network that allows students to work on their projects and see them implemented through direct communication with teachers and city officials.

The centerpiece of the POV experience is a mobile app for students, designed based on various teacher's interviews, with a modern look and mechanics inspired by the social network structure familiar to them.
Through the app, students can post, explore, and comment on proposals, receive help from teachers from all schools, and organize work with other students. The app is accompanied by a web application forteachers, which allows them to validate thestudents' ideas and forward them to the City of Milan.

*Milano Partecipa is the City of Milan's digital platform for citizen participation in the life of the city.

User testing was conducted with 15 participants using two platforms simultaneously: Maze and Google Forms. Through Maze, users explored a digital prototype of the app and completed six tasks related to its core functionalities. Google Forms was used to collect feedback, asking users to rate the difficulty of each task on a scale from 1 (easy) to 4 (hard), along with additional comments and insights.

Based on the testing results, two minor usability issues were identified and addressed. In particular, the “school profile” section was made more accessible by visually highlighting the school name as a clearly clickable element, improving recognition compared to the previous low-contrast design.
